Davidson Next AP Challenging Concepts

Educational content aimed at improving teaching and learning.

Davidson Next Interactive Content

Davidson Next is committed to making high quality interactive content associated with its AP® offerings. This site contains an overview of tools and examples we developed over the past year (Aug. 2014 &emd; Aug. 2015). The principles that guided are development are:

  1. Create engaging activities that improve learning and mastery of challenging concepts.
  2. Allow learners to complete and store more of their work inside the edX platform.
  3. Allow new interactive components to be graded by the edX platform.
  4. To push the boundaries of the edX platform in terms of a learners ability to interact with graphics and simulations.

Our interactive content broadly cover the following categories:

  1. Drawing
  2. Graphing
  3. Data Entry

The tabs at the top of the page will take you specific examples that are currently live in our three AP® offerings - Calculus, Macroeconomics, and Physics. In addition, you will find github links to our github repositories.

Selected Example: Graphing Application

Graphing calculators are permitted for use during "calculator active" problems on AP exams. Our app provides open access to those functionalities required for the AP exam. Learners can: 1) can input up to 5 mathematical functions, 2) plot those functions and their derivatives, 3) find zeroes of a given function, and 4) calculatore numerical derivatives and integrals. More instructions can be found in the live content on edx: Link.
